What HP 219 toner really costs per page
Cost per page is price divided by the yield stated for that exact cartridge. Start from the prices we checked or enter your own offer.
Content updated:
Cost per page is the price you pay including VAT divided by the stated page yield of that exact cartridge; multiply by 100 for the cost per 100 pages. For original HP cartridges we use HP's stated yields under ISO/IEC 19798. For a compatible cartridge we use only the yield stated for that product.
Right now the lowest checked original HP cost is £2.64 per 100 pages (W2190X). These are dated snapshots of checked prices, not permanent winners.

Estimate. Cost per page = price ÷ stated yield. A manufacturer's stated yield (HP: ISO/IEC 19798 for continuous printing) is not a prediction of your use. Document content, page coverage and settings affect actual yield. For a colour page, calculate black, cyan, yellow and magenta together in the annual-cost calculator.
Annual cost for your black and colour mix
A colour page draws on black, cyan, yellow and magenta together, so the four yields are never added into one page count. The calculator below works in whole cartridges for your monthly volume and black/colour mix, and compares 219A with 219X.

HP 219X (high yield)

Estimate. Cartridge counts are rounded up because you buy whole cartridges. Costs use HP's stated ISO yields and the prices entered, excluding delivery. Actual yield depends on document content, coverage and settings. How we calculate.
Questions about HP 219 cost per page
Do HP 219A and HP 219X fit the same printers?
Yes. HP lists both capacities for the same printers, and you can mix A and X colour by colour. The choice depends on the current price, the stated yield and how much you print.
How is cost per page calculated?
We divide the checked price including VAT by the page yield stated for that exact cartridge. Unknown delivery is not counted as free, and a compatible cartridge's cost is never calculated with HP's yield.
Are the prices including VAT?
Yes. The main price is the consumer price including VAT as shown by the retailer. Where a retailer also shows an ex-VAT price, we never compare it with another retailer's inc-VAT price.
