Decision guide

HP 219 original or compatible: which suits you?

There is no universal winner. What matters is how much you print, how much certainty you need and what the specific compatible product documents about its chip.

Original and compatible products side by side

No complete pair of checked original and compatible prices is available at the moment. The exact retailer links on each OEM page lead to the retailer listings, where you can check the latest price.

What you trade off

  • Price: compatible cartridges are often cheaper to buy. Where a fresh, complete pair is available, the table above shows the checked difference for that code.
  • Yield evidence: HP states original yields under ISO/IEC 19798. A compatible yield is the seller's or manufacturer's own statement, sometimes on a different basis, and 219toner.com has not tested it.
  • Recognition: HP uses dynamic security. Original HP cartridges carry the lowest risk of being affected; compatible cartridges are neither guaranteed to work nor automatically blocked.
  • Returns and warranty: compare what the seller states for the exact product, such as the warranty length and how returns work.

Questions about original and compatible HP 219 toner

Does compatible HP 219 toner work?

It depends on the specific product, its chip and your printer's firmware. HP uses dynamic security, so compatible cartridges are neither guaranteed to work nor automatically blocked. Choose an exact OEM match from a seller with clear returns or warranty terms.

How is cost per page calculated?

We divide the checked price including VAT by the page yield stated for that exact cartridge. Unknown delivery is not counted as free, and a compatible cartridge's cost is never calculated with HP's yield.

Are the prices including VAT?

Yes. The main price is the consumer price including VAT as shown by the retailer. Where a retailer also shows an ex-VAT price, we never compare it with another retailer's inc-VAT price.
